Remarks

A player first, a USB DAC second — and the product page likely does not draw the line between them. The figures below read as the device's own playback reach; presented under a USB heading, they set expectations the USB input does not meet. Read the gap as a spec sheet that never separated the two roles, not as a promise broken.

Over USB the AP30 has been witnessed only as a full-speed UAC1 input. On that pipe the PCM line of 24-bit / 192 kHz is carried by no single mode: 24-bit tops out at 96 kHz, and 192 kHz is offered only at 16-bit. Depth or rate, never both at once — the bandwidth arithmetic of a full-speed interface, which cannot hold 24 bits at 192 kHz.

The DSD figures — DSD64/128/256 — are what the internal converter decodes from local files; the descriptor carries no DSD alt, and a full-speed pipe has neither the bandwidth for native DSD nor a 176.4 kHz / 24-bit carrier for DoP. Whether the AP30 also offers a hi-speed UAC2 mode is not something the Concordance has witnessed; were one to appear, it would be judged on its own descriptor. The verdicts here speak only to the full-speed input the Engine has actually seen.
